Majorca – Guest contribution

The island of boundless possibilities

Quite a lot of tourists from numerous countries visit the island every year. This is because the possibilities on the relatively small island are really diverse. Each person has hopes and expectations when traveling there. The ones who would like to get to know the island and its people will get the chance as well as those seeking relaxation on the beach. And it seems to be an ideal place for young people who just want to burn the candle at both ends. Ambitious athletes simply meet challenges. Majorca offers perfect activities for everyone and provides a lot of diversion.

Majorca’s great hotels

I visited Majorca several times in the previous years – sometimes together with friends and sometimes with my family. The starting point for our activities was a beautiful hotel. I particularly liked the hotels in Cala Millor (Cala Millor Park) and in Alcudia (Iberostar Alcudia Park).
The rooms were good, the food was great and the possibilities for an unforgettable and varied holiday were almost unlimited.

Of course, I have spent some time on the beach but to explore the island from different perspectives was the most beautiful way. I would like to mention some highlights here. On the way I saw a lot of cyclists who combined the cycling in the mountains with a magnificent view. I preferred taking the car to see a lot of places where I could spend much time.

The variety of sights

I would like to mention just few sights that I visited during my holidays on Majorca. To describe all of them would go beyond the scope here.
In the eastern part of the island, in Porto Cristo, there is a dragon’s lair called “Coves del Drac”. This underground cave system is very popular and exciting. A guided tour is highly recommended. The cave formation is wonderfully illuminated, there are a lot of exciting grottoes and a special highlight is a large subterranean lake. A small concert and a boat trip rounded off the experience.
A very nice small bay is located in the northwest of the island in Sa Calobra and is called “Torrent de Pareis”. This location can only be reached by driving along a serpentine road that winds along the rocky landscape. You have to go on foot the last bit. You will be rewarded with a breathtaking view. The turquoise coloured water is simply a dream and rocks towering almost vertically against the sky are located on both sides of the small bay. A sight I will never forget.

There is a great viewpoint in the north of the island called “Cap de Formentor” It is within easy reach and not far from Alcudia. Just the way to the viewpoint is an incredible experience. Narrow roads, serpentines, small dark tunnels and again and again a breathtaking view over the wonderful landscape and the sea. After arriving at the destination, I couldn’t spend enough time to enjoy the moment. For everybody who likes a great view over rough mountain landscapes, cliffs, rocks and the sea, it is the perfect place.

The list of sights would surely be a long one. There is so much to see and do on Majorca, so that there is something interesting for everybody. The only way to experience all that is to visit this small island yourself. I will never forget these invaluable experiences on Majorca – a visit pays off.
