For a family trip with Lucas family we decided to stay in the Hotel Scandic Meilahti. We took a rental car from the airport to the hotel. There were parking spaces in front of it so we left our car there. We were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist.
The hotel is located directly between the way from the airport to the center of Helsinki. So it has a great position for us but there are also hotels which are closer to the center. In front of the hotel is a metro which leads into the city and to the harbour. Good to know is, that you have to buy tickets online in an app. There is no chance to get them from the driver or at a vending machine, what was very surprising.
The hotel has eleven floors and our rooms were at the highest one, so we had a great view over the city. As the hotel was build in 2016, it is very modern as well as the rooms. The corner rooms are much bigger than the others and have a bathtub.
Finland is the country of saunas so it isn’t surprising that the hotel also has two saunas. Very comfortable is, that in the building there is a supermarket so that after our excursions, in the evening we could buy food there.
We loved the breakfast very much, especially because it has great finnish specialties and is very various. We liked the service and definitely can recommend this hotel.
