It may sound a little strange that we stayed in a hotel in our own town. But in Berlin there is a special program, which allows people who live in Berlin to stay in the best hotels of the city for a low price. We took part in this program a second time and decided to sleep in the 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin. The service was already very good before we arrived. We had booked a room, which actually included a view into the city. But we asked the hotel if we could get the view of the zoo Berlin and a hammock as a small upgrade. After that, we received a friendly e-mail that confirmed this upgrade. We would also describe the service during the whole stay as above average.
The location of the 25hours hotel is very central and offers a good connection to public transport. Many of Berlin’s sights are in the immediate vicinity, which is perfect for tourists. The KuDamm and the KaDeWe are directly accessible on foot. Cars of the brand Mini and bikes can also be rented at the hotel.
We arrived at the hotel around noon and first had a 3-course menu in the well-known restaurant NENI. The meal was included in the booked program. It was very varied and delicious and they cook mainly Israeli cuisine. From the restaurant you also have a super nice view over the Berlin zoo and into the city. In the restaurant we also had breakfast the next morning. The breakfast was good, but the variety was not really big. Because of the corona situation we also had to tell the staff what we wanted to have on our plates and were not allowed to help ourselves at the buffet. In any case, it is worthwhile to have lunch or dinner there. But if you are not a hotel guest, you might have to book very long time in advance.
The design hotel also has a lot more to offer. From the well arranged lounge areas up to the very dark elevators and corridors, there is a lot to discover.
Unfortunately the sauna was closed when we were there due to the corona situation. Our room was very nicely furnished. Besides the open shower, the ceiling was very interestingly designed in industrial style. Especially nice were the floor-length windows and the hammock, from which we had a great view over the zoo. A special highlight of the hotel is also the famous Monkey Bar. The view from the bar is breathtakingly beautiful. But many other people have already found out that, so that the bar is often quite full and one has to wait very long downstairs in front of the hotel for a seat. On Friday and Saturday evenings, you should expect a waiting time of 1-2 hours. As a guest of the hotel, you do not have to wait at the usual line but you can take the hotel elevator straight to the bar. Nevertheless, we waited 20 minutes for a seat in front of the bar. The cocktails are very tasty and therefore we would recommend the bar despite the many visitors. In the afternoon the bar is used as a café and for those who do not want to wait there that long in the evening, a visit in the afternoon is an alternative.
