For our anniversary I booked a stay in the Waldorf Astoria for Mandy and me. We arrived with a limousine and two very helpful bellhops welcomed us. The receptionist was very friendly as well and we got a room on the 15th floor. After one day the receptionist knew our name and welcomed us with it.
The hotel is located in the city west at the Breitscheidplatz and has a perfect position. Due to the good location of the hotel a lot can be visited by foot. For example, you can take a stroll along the Ku’damm or take a side tripto the famous shopping centerKaDeWe.
The room was generous and we had a great view over Berlin. Besides we had a bathtub. The most special about the room was the television which was included in the mirror in the bathroom. We could only see that when we turned it on.
Although the Guerlain Spa is a bit too small for the size of the hotel we liked it in general. There was a direct way to the roofgarden, which can be used after sauna.
When we came back there was a little surprise for us in our room. We got a personal greeting for our anniversary with pralines and a card. I wrote an email to the Waldorf Astoria before and explained the reason for our visit. But I was surprised how much effort they did for us.
In the evening we ate in the restaurant and cafe ROCA which belongs to the Waldorf Astoria. The food was very delicious and visually great as well. The service was good besides some details. The funny thing about the ROCA is that you have to use an elevator to come to the toilet which was only built for this. After the dinner we went to the Lang Bar which is located directly above the ROCA. The bar is furnished stylish. When we arrived there, all seats were occupied but an alert waiter firstly placed us at the bar and then organized a table for us. The great cocktails and service justify the upper prices. The live musicians created a great atmosphere,
The breakfast was very various and delicious. The breakfast room is big and we really loved the fresh juices. The egg foods were also tasty and we can advise the Egg Benedict.
We can really recommend the hotel and will definitely come back.
