Dublin

Our first blogpost is about the city to where we have had our very first trip together. Luca did an educational journey to Dublin and I wanted to use this opportunity to see Ireland as well. We decided to do a family trip. He arrived a week before us and booked an Airbnb accommodation. On Friday the trip started for the rest of the family. After the flight and a short bus trip to the city of Dublin we arrived on another Airbnb housing where the others have lived.

The city of magnific bridges

The first day we walked through the city of Dublin. We visited the Dublin Writers Museum which, in general, was very interesting but you really have to be into the topic to understand everything. After this we strolled through the pedestrian zone and saw a lot of cute and small shops. For lunch we stayed in a very interesting restaurant which was a church earlier. Luca and me had fish and chips.  We are definitely happy that we saw the Garden of Remembrance which is a memorial garden that should remind to all of those people who lost their lives in the fight for the Irish Freedom.

Another attraction is the famous post office which has a special importance for the Irish people. On the southside of the city we visited the prestigious Trinity College which has a huge areal. Especially the library is very famous because it is the oldest one in Ireland and it is definitely worth a visit. The Book of Kells is in the possession of the college. In the end of the day we visited the Little Museum of Dublin which we can totally recommend. The inhabiters of Dublin donate things to it. Our museum guide was also very great and special about her was, that she didn’t only told us interesting things but also sang.

From the biggest companies to tasty Whiskey

The next day we decided to do a Hop-on-Hop-off Tour. After driving on the O’Connell Street, our first stop was nearby the harbor. We wanted to see the impressive buildings of the big companies like Facebook and Google. Very interesting about this were the modern buildings with flats for the staff of those companies. Another attraction was the visit of Teeling Whiskey which was our next stop. We could see how the whiskey was produced and how it is stored for at least 3 years. After that we also could taste some sorts of whiskey. We was surprised that Mr. Teeling senior was there for a short personal conservation.

Because you can’t leave Dublin without drinking a Guiness in one of the famous pubs, in the evening we took a drink in the oldest one of Dublin.
