Hochfügen

Starting the trip to our bordering country

On Lucas Birthday, we started our short trip to the beautiful country Austria. We decided to fly from Berlin to Munich. From there, we took a rental car to drive to Hochfügen. The journey from Munich took approximately two hours. The more we came closer to our destination the more we saw mountains and snow. We had to consider that we have to pay toll for driving in Austria. From the village Fügen, a road goes directly to the top of the mountain where Hochfügen is located. Driving this road was amazing because the mountain was covered by snow which was 2 meter high. When we arrived there, we stood in front of a huge ski area.

Our accommodation was a cozy chalet at the bottom of the piste. To read more about it check out this review. In the evening we had a great five course dinner in the Hotel Almhof.

Mountain view with magical sunlight

The next morning the weather was totally perfect and so we decided to take the gondola lift to the top of the Fügenberg. We have never seen such a fantastic view over the mountains with snow and sun at the same time. On the one hand it was the perfect place for skiing and snowboarding and on the other hand there were many untouched snow landscape parts which were so beautiful to see. We also walked to the Wedelhütte and had a tea as well as an apple strudel while enjoying the panorama view.

Sledging in a winter wonderland

In the afternoon we took a long walk through this winter wonderland. We borrowed a sleight too, at the ski school from Hotel Almhof and sled down a mountain which was a great experience because the toboggan run leads through an amazing wood. In the evening we enjoyed a great dinner again in Hotel Almhof as well as a breakfast in the morning.

It was a great trip to Austria and we enjoyed the days there very much.
