After the carnival time we wanted to have some relaxing days and decided to live in the Mercure Hotel Salvador in Rio Vermelho.
It is located in the district Rio Vermelho, nearby a small beach. The benefits of this district are, that it is calm there and that you only need half an hour to the centre. Also very good is that, no matter in which direction you go, there are beautiful beaches where you can swim and relax. Next to the hotel is a big place with a restaurant. Sometimes they play life music and you can dance some special brazlian dances like forró.
Unfortunately we got no upgrade although we have a status for Accor Hotels and the receptionist couldn’t speak english which was a bit difficult. Our room was good and clean. We have to emphasize the amazing infinity pool. The view on the ocean and beach from the pool is breathtaking and it isn’t much crowded.
The breakfast was great. There was a huge variety of breads, fruits, milks, muesli and drinks. That was one of the best breakfasts we had, especially in a Mercure Hotel. One evening we had dinner in the hotel as well. Again, we had difficulties with the language because the waiter couldn’t speak english but the food was really delicious and the price was also good.
All in all we liked the Hotel very much and can recommend it when you visit Salvador.
